An ontology is a set of concepts and categories in a subject area or domain that possesses the properties and relations between them.
For example, if Gopher were to create a set of concepts defined for, say, a department store, Gopher would define the store’s main topics including things like: item, category, vendor name, customer name, POS, etc. Gopher would also introduce further details about topics types including clothes, shoes, home appliances, etc., by their respective vendor and brand names. Based on shopper's purchases, the system will define the connections of items, vendors, preferences, and more.
