Museum expecting large crowds for Dragonfes Expo 2019
(NewMediaWire) - June 21, 2019 - Burbank, CA – Large expectations for the Martial Arts History Museum’s “Dragonfest Expo” coming this August 16-18, 2019 at the Pickwick Gardens Conference Center in Burbank as they extend the convention to a three-day event.
Last year, nearly 3,000 martial arts fans and enthusiasts flooded the Pickwick Gardens center eager to meet their favorite celebrities and martial arts icons. From Matthew Moi of Two Broke Girls to Joe Mantegna, Michael Jai White to Eric Roberts, fans were not disappointed.
Because of the increasing awareness of the event and the addition of nearly 500 new spectators every year, the Martial Arts History Museum, the event’s host, has extended the expo to three days. “Last year was the first time the event was two days,” says museum president and Dragonfest director Michael Matsuda, “We had one day for the vendor booths and the second day for workouts. I expected only about 50 people for the workouts, we had 300. It was packed and everyone enjoyed it. It was a golden opportunity to learn from the biggest icons of the martial arts for just one flat fee.”
Dragonfest, which will be celebrating its 15th year, is the biggest fundraiser for the museum. A charity event, 100 percent of the proceeds goes to benefit the museum as they seek to relocate to a much larger facility. “The museum does a lot for the city of Burbank. We not only bring in thousands of visitors every year, but we do a lot of humanitarian work such as working with those with Alzheimer’s and dementia, physically and mentally challenged groups, blood drives, anti-bullying and female self-defense. This fundraiser is a big part of that move. It is my hope the city of Burbank will become more involved to help us in this area,” adds Matsuda.
On Friday, August 16, Dragonfest will conduct a series of seminars for marketing. Michael Matsuda will teach about publishing your own book, Youtube guru Brendan Mitchell will discuss marketing yourself on Youtube and Fariborz Azhakh will teach a class on marketing your school and how to use the internet to bring in new students.
Saturday, August 17 will be the expo itself. With nearly 170 vendor booths, fans will enjoy Asian cultural performances, martial arts demonstrations, fun items to purchase and Q&A’s from martial arts celebrities.
Sunday, August 18, Dragonfest will host a series of workout seminars with the biggest icons in the martial arts. From Don “the dragon” Wilson to Kam Yuen to Sifu Matthew to Cynthia Rothrock. For one price, fans will have 18 workouts to choose from.
