Presidential Candidate Larry Elder visits the Martial Arts History Museum
(NewMediaWire) - May 02, 2023 - Burbank, CA – As we celebrate the start of Asian American Pacific Islanders month, the Martial Arts History Museum in Burbank was visited this week by a very special guest, presidential candidate Larry Elder. Elder, along with esteemed physician Dr. Robert Goldman and actor Vince Cecere, took a guided tour of the Asian cultural museum led by museum president Michael Matsuda.
Edler, who is a celebrated attorney, documentary filmmaker, accomplished author, and host to one of the highest-rated and nationally syndicated radio talk shows called The Larry Elder Show, enjoyed learning about the positive contributions of the Asian-American community and their impact on Western society.
In 2021, Elder made his first run for political office in the recall election of California governor Gavin Newsom placing first amongst the replacement candidates. Recently, Elder announced his bid for the 2024 presidential office.
The museum, which is nestled amongst some of the biggest motion picture and television studios in the world, is the only Asian-themed cultural museum in the San Fernando Valley. Founded by Matsuda in 1999, the museum has recently become listed as one of the top ten places to visit in Burbank.
Elder and his guests enjoyed a variety of Asian forms of martial arts including Japanese samurai armor, Hawaiian Lua shark-teeth weapons, a Thailand cultural dance mask plus actual artifacts and props from such films as The Karate Kid, Mortal Kombat, and Revenge of the Ninja.
In addition to enlightening visitors about Asian tradition, the museum also hosts several humanitarian events such as anti-bullying day, anti-Asian hate events, providing uniforms to lower-income families, etc. "The museum is a great place to visit, especially for families. But I feel it's our duty to serve our community by having these types of events. My goal is to have a place large enough where we can host classes on health issues, facing diabetes, CPR classes, women's self-defense workshops, senior issue classes, and more. I hope the community can see our potential and support this great cause," adds Matsuda.
The museum is currently working to relocate to the city of Glendale and is seeking assistance in the form of donations in its “$5 to $5 Million” fundraising campaign on its website at MAmuseum.com.
